The NCP is an environment where you can collaborate and drive good business...
Being part of a network is essential when you are an independent consultant – none of us can know everything that our clients need and it is also vital to feel part of something bigger. To feel part of a team of like-minded, professional, ethical and commercially astute colleagues is invaluable.
The NCP is truly a network where members take each other’s success personally. Far from a social group, the NCP is an environment where good business is done with good people. A place where you can expect to be asked tough questions about how to make your business and service offering even more compelling. A place where you can collaborate to deliver outstanding results to your clients.
NCP member John Smith and I share a passion for helping business owners to better manage the people aspect of their business. I was invited by John to create and co-deliver a team building workshop with him for one of his clients.
It worked so well for the client and for John and I that we adapted that team building program as a stand alone product within John's business offering. I am often engaged to deliver this program and it can also be delivered by other approved people. In that case they receive their fee and I receive a small royalty fee. That's what I call a win - win - win - win situation.
At one of the meetings of The NCP, member William Heine, a commercial success specialist, was enthusiastically sharing the success and imminent growth of one of his clients. My HR compliance and company culture radar went up and I approached Will to canvass how the company was planning to engage new staff.
I later provided Will with background information to help his client to adopt an approach that was right for their business and would also satisfy the requirements of the Australian industrial relations landscape.
He had a fruitful conversation with his client and they set their strategy. I was engaged to assist with the preparation of template employment contracts and both the business and Will's relationship with them have gone from strength to strength. It was a short project for me but one that added value to the client, to Will and to the philosophy of the NCP of taking success personally. That is good business!
